Quality Over Quantity

"Security is an easy job — anyone can do it."

Public perception, often shaped by outdated media portrayals, commonly underestimates the skill and preparation required for professional security work in the modern era.

Service vs. Safety

When most people think of an "easy" security job, they picture a customer service type role. While guest services are an essential component of any security role, the public safety aspect is often overlooked; both must be present to create a secure environment. In other words:

  • Customer service makes your environment feel safe and welcoming;
  • Public safety measures ensure that your property actually is.

NVCSS officers are screened and trained in both key areas, so when a situation cannot be resolved through customer service or diplomacy, they can still respond effectively.

Civil Security Service maintains a small, highly professional team, with rigid hiring standards that ensure consistent service quality.

A Rigorous Process

Upon hire, all probationary officers are required to complete a 3-month long field training program. During this time, they receive training on topics such as:

  • Guest service, public relations and diplomacy techniques
  • Defensive tactics and public safety best practices
  • State law for private security, use of force, and powers of arrest

While anyone can make a "private person’s arrest" (the legal term for a citizen's arrest in Nevada), the difference is that NVCSS officers are specifically trained to do so within the bounds of the law. Even the safest locations can face unexpected challenges — having a capable, professionally trained officer on-site can make all the difference.
