Keeping the Peace

Civil standby is a type of security specifically geared towards maintaining a calm, cool atmosphere during a tense interaction.

One or more NVCSS officers will meet with you before your interaction and provide a discreet security presence, the priority being the safety of all parties involved. Officers will also keep potential hostilities from escalating and all parties depart without incident.

Who It's For

There are many use cases for civil standby. Here are just a few:

Legal Disputes

Tempers can flare up during divorce proceedings, corporate dissolutions, trust hearings, and other legal affairs. NVCSS officers can take on a diplomatic role and help defuse any issues that arise.

Civil Affairs

Beyond legal matters, some situations can escalate without the benefit of a strong, neutral security presence. Examples include adversarial retrievals of property (where damage may be caused by one party to spite the other), a post-divorce custody exchange, and court-ordered service of process.

Hostile Terminations

To prevent workplace violence or a disruptive outburst, NVCSS officers can help keep managers and employees safe as the offboarding process is conducted. Officers can also escort the terminated individual off-site and help prevent retaliatory behaviors.

Civil Standby Strategies

The secret to a successful civil standby operation lies in planning and attention to detail. Civil Security Service goes the extra mile to keep all parties safe in a low-key, respectful manner. For example:

  • If using a team of officers, all but one may remain concealed unless they need to intervene.
  • Officers can be fully uniformed or dressed to look like a paralegal, providing an innocuous appearance.
  • If needed, background information can be obtained and used to identify potentially dangerous intentions and/or monitor the arrival and departure of opposing parties without alerting them.
  • Officers that detect "threat indicators," such as signs of a planned attack or possession of a weapon by an arriving party, can immediately intervene before they have the opportunity to cause harm.
  • In the event of an emergency, officers can quickly and efficiently evacuate you and your people to safety.

About Class Assignments

NVCSS maintains high service quality by matching personnel classifications to the anticipated capabilities the role will need. We will not give assignments to personnel if its requirements exceeds their training or ability to respond, nor will we assign personnel that lack the appropriate qualifications.

We understand that this policy can cause difficulties, and that's why Civil Standby assignments are only accepted on a case-by-case basis, ensuring both officer safety and effective security coverage.
