Civil Security Service (NVCSS) has joined one of Nevada's official fusion centers for statewide crime and security intelligence sharing.
RENO, NEVADA — Civil Security Service (NVCSS), a private security agency serving business and residential communities throughout Northern Nevada, has received approval to join the Nevada Threat Analysis Center (NTAC).
Established in 2008, NTAC is part of the Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Investigative Division and serves as one of Nevada’s primary fusion centers. Fusion centers are collaborative hubs for sharing crime and security intelligence among federal, state, local, and private partners. NTAC provides members with access to timely law enforcement and threat reports, enhancing the state’s overall safety network.
“Access to NTAC intelligence is an enormous privilege,” said Andy Ng, founder and Chief Administrator of Civil Security Service.
“This partnership strengthens our ability to anticipate threats, respond effectively, and deliver a higher standard of protection for our clients and the communities we serve.”
Fusion centers were first developed in the mid-2000s under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to improve coordination between agencies. Today, they play a key role in national efforts against violent crime and terrorism and are closely tied to the If You See Something, Say Something® public awareness campaign.
Public-private partnerships are a cornerstone of this approach. A report from the Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center found that such collaborations build trust, improve communication, and enhance crime prevention strategies. Businesses engaged in these partnerships often adopt more proactive safety measures and use resources more effectively.
“For a private-sector security provider, resource management is everything,” Ng added. “We don’t rely on public funding — we rely on innovation and cooperation.
"A partnership with NTAC means Civil Security Service can contribute to statewide safety efforts while giving our clients the reassurance that their protection is backed by the best intelligence available.”
The Nevada Threat Analysis Center (NTAC) was established in April 2008 and is an entity within the Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) – Investigation Division. In partnership with the people of Nevada, the Department of Public Safety provides services in support of protecting our citizens and visitors by promoting safer communities through prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, education and enforcement, through an all threats, all crimes strategy.
NTAC has been designated by the Governor’s Office as the State fusion center, with primary responsibility for 16 of the state’s 17 counties (excluding Clark County); all state agencies and tribal areas within those areas. Clark County has their own fusion center with responsibilities lying within their respective jurisdiction. NTAC functions in coordination with the Clark County fusion center.
NTAC embraces a team effort of local, state, federal, and tribal law enforcement, fire, health, emergency management and private sector stakeholders, in cooperation with the citizens of Nevada, for the timely receipt, analysis, and dissemination of criminal information while ensuring the safety and privacy rights of our citizens and critical infrastructure.
